Why choose this subject?
One of the biggest benefits of working with children is  job satisfaction. Usually, people who work within childcare have a passion for nurturing children to grow and develop. A person who works with children makes key foundation blocks in the early stages of  someone's life.

Course content

The Cambridge National in Child Development course covers all aspects of child development and parental responsibility, from conception to five years. Students develop the essential theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to create the best conditions for a child’s development and well-being. 

Units include: 

R057: Health and well-being for child development
R058: Create a safe environment and understand the nutritional needs of children from birth- 5 years
R059: Understand the development of children from one to five years
R057 is an exam based unit and worth 40% of the final grade
R058 and R059 are coursework based units and worth 60% of the final grade (30% each)
