Teacher Training
School Direct Initial Teacher Training
This exciting school-based programme of Initial Teacher Training will be open to our next cohort of trainees from September 2019. Places will be available through Ashcroft High School, our lead school.
Training places are offered in the following subjects:
- English
- Mathematics
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Geography
- History
- Modern languages (Spanish and French)
- Physical Education
The course fee is £9250 for most courses.
Successful trainees will be awarded Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a PGCE. We welcome applicants who have UK residency, GCSE Mathematics and English (or equivalent) at Grade C or above, and a degree – preferably First Class or Upper Second – in the subject they wish to teach, or in a closely related subject.

Places in some subjects are also offered through the salaried School Direct route. See UCAS site for details. This route is for applicants with suitable experience. Successful trainees will be awarded QTS.
All offers of a place are “conditional” until Disclosure and Barring Service and qualification checks have been successfully completed, satisfactory references have been received and the National Skills Tests for Numeracy and Literacy have been passed. Overseas qualifications must be checked through UK NARIC before application.
